5 Design Trends To Steal For Your Kitchen & Bath In Dallas (And Won’t Look TOO Straining)

If you have been playing with the thought to remodel your kitchen & bath lately but wondered what will have the best impact for your Dallas home in case you’d like to sell it sometime in the future, you are in the right place! Joseph & Berry (yes, they are real people ;)) had the pleasure to participate in the recent kitchen & bath show and the largest builder show that took place in Las Vegas earlier this year. They also brought home an amazing Best in America Living award but that’s for a different blog 🙂

While they were exploring the latest and greatest technology we can now incorporate to your home, they also viewed the latest colors and trends that will fit best for the unique Dallas, Tx design and style that we have here. Remember, it may look phenomenal in that NY apartment you saw on Houzz or in Elle Decore but frankly? It may be way too modern for Texans and it could be a burden in the future if you’ll consider selling your home.

So, what are the kitchen & bath designs that we are going to do when you’ll start your Dallas remodeling journey?

Kitchen design and cabinet colors that add flair to your Dallas home:

We see a lot of black and blue shades that are trending right now, but if we need to make an educated guess about your kitchen, we will assume it is some shade of BROWN, is it? As we mentioned, not whatever fits L.A or NY can work in Dallas. A good interior designer will combine the client (you) wants and needs with the local market (Dallas, Tx) styles and population.

So, what do we actually recommend for kitchen & bath design ideas?

White is still the most popular color for kitchen designs, however, we noticed that the colors are warming up a little bit. If you consider remodeling your kitchen than hues of white kitchen cabinets with a combination of dark cabinets for the kitchen island, will definitely add flair to your home,  just like we did in this beautiful kitchen remodel in Dallas:

Gray shades are also warming up this season and we noticed a lot more greiges (gray & beige) in the show, check these selections we did marble hexagon tiles and modern light gray door style :

Statement Countertops For Your Kitchen & Bath

If you feel like a colored kitchen or bath cabinets is too bold for you, you should consider using a bold countertop instead. Joseph & Berry noticed many kitchen & bath designs with bold or darker countertops. You don’t have to go all the way in, simply choose a countertop with darker veins. It’s beautiful, elegant and can pop up the room. Think about a small power room with clean lines, marble backsplash tiles and dark countertop over a white vanity. Elegant and timeless!

It is 2019 and if you haven’t done that yet, think about changing your light bulbs to LED anywhere you can. It is a bit more costly at the beginning, but in the long run, it will actually save you money. You may notice that trend in the fashion industry for a while now, and now we are happy to implement those trends to your kitchen & bath! We have designed many areas using printed cement tiles as well as geometric tiles for many rooms like kitchen backsplash and kitchen flooring, entryway, powder room flooring, master bathroom, and mud rooms. Interior Barn Doors – This Dallas Home Design Trend Is Popular

Learn Why Interior Barn Doors Are Popular In Contemporary Home Design

Anyone who keeps up with home design trends knows that interior barn doors are massively popular. These sliding doors add a high-end, high-style statement to any home. The key to this interior design trend’s staying power is one thing: sheer versatility. The number of options available for interior barn doors has only grown in recent years, which means that they can now take any room in a contemporary home to the next level, regardless of decor style. Contact Joseph & Berry to discuss your custom barn doors for home designs from modern to rustic.

Incorporating Barn Doors into Your Home Design

Because they are an eye-catching focal point, interior barn doors work extremely well in large, open spaces. They can be particularly useful for partitioning empty, redundant space such as that between a kitchen and living room, or closing off the rest of the kitchen from a pantry space when entertaining. While the barn door will likely stay open more often than not, it is the perfect feature to suggest spatial separation. These mobile doors add flexibility and versatility to your open spaces rather than closing them down the way a permanent separation would.

Yet these rooms are not the only ones where interior barn doors can be used. A barn door is a great way to dress up a smaller spot, like a bathroom or closet, or to add sophistication and visual interest to the entrance of a home office, media room, or laundry room.

Keep in mind, barn doors have limitations. They do not work well in areas with limited wall space. They also permit more noise transference from room to room than a permanent wall and are not as private, because they do not lock. These factors must all be considered when choosing to add a barn door to your home remodeling project.

Barn Doors That Match Your Home Design

One factor that has brought interior barn doors real staying power in the home design world is their versatility. They can be made out of many different materials and come in many different colors and finishes. Although wood has been the traditional choice and adds rustic farmhouse charm to any home, more contemporary stylings are growing in popularity. One option is to get a barn door built from metal or glass – frosted glass, in particular, creates a contemporary look which allows natural light flow from room-to-room while still maintaining privacy.

Homeowners today also have more options for the style of their sliding barn doors than when this trend first became popular. With the help of a professional installer and the right hardware, virtually any door can be hung. By hanging French doors, castle doors, or church doors you can enjoy all the benefits of these elegant double door styles without sacrificing the enormous amount of floor space they require when installed as traditional swing doors.

The Rest of the Room

When installing any statement piece, it’s important to consider how the rest of your decor will coordinate. Interior barn doors in home design can act as art pieces in and of themselves, particularly when painted with a bold, bright color, or are made of reclaimed or exotic woods. If this is the case, you will want the rest of the room to be fairly neutral and simple. Some homeowners don’t necessarily want the barn door to be the centerpiece of the room, therefore a white or neutral finish or natural wood look will make any room appear larger and allow you to use more color and pattern throughout your decor.

Joseph & Berry design-build team has worked with many homeowners in the Dallas area to create a custom look that seamlessly integrates the home design from one room to the next. We guarantee our work, so you can be confident the results will match your vision. We can discuss with you the many benefits of interior barn doors, a style we see only gaining in popularity for years to come.

Dallas Home Remodeling Style – Mediterranean Kitchen Design

One of the favorite features in the traditional Mediterranean kitchen is beautiful ceramic or terra cotta tile work. To get a truly Mediterranean feel you might choose a single color tile with a decorative shape for the floor or colorful tile with a simple design for the backsplash. In a cool colored kitchen, tile offers a great opportunity to add warmth, personality and an exciting focal point into your design.

Consider “Reclaimed” Wood

Reclaimed wood can add warmth and depth to any kitchen. Beams and dark wood elements are often seen in a traditional Mediterranean design. Why not add multiple reclaimed wood elements like shelving, beams, molding, and furniture to create multiple focal points.

Use Black Hardware in a Contemporary Style

Wrought iron is a staple in traditional Mediterranean design. Often wrought iron decorative elements like brackets and railings are used to accent the wood and tile. For a more contemporary look, wrought iron hardware can add a modern element to a traditional style. Don’t be afraid to use distressed hardware, especially if the other elements are crisp and new.

Consider Open Shelving Instead of Upper Cabinets

Open shelving can add a feeling of openness to your kitchen design. Plus you get the added benefit of introducing other design elements of color and pattern to your space with decorative plates, glassware, and pottery. Floating shelves can add a clean, contemporary feel to a Mediterranean design by providing balance to the larger, heavier details.

Modernize With Contemporary Lighting

Lighting is the perfect way to update and modernize your kitchen space. Moving away from more traditional lighting elements to ones featuring a contemporary shape can give you the best of both worlds. When shopping for fixtures, look for ones that complement the style of your kitchen using materials and colors that match your choices of color and materials. Make sure to go beyond standard fixtures and consider adding ambient elements like flush spotlights and under cabinet lighting.

For Contrast, Introduce Modern Furniture

Bright modern furniture can freshen up your space and add an interesting element to a traditional classic style. Swapping out dark wood tables or chairs for brighter more contemporary furniture can drastically change the vibe and style of your kitchen. The simple clean lines of modern design furniture can add a fun element that feels fresh and contemporary to create your own unique Mediterranean style!

Don’t Forget To Accessorize!

One of the wonderful elements of the Mediterranean style is the creative use of eclectic elements to decorate the space. Accessories like interesting ceramic pieces, flower patterns, copper and of course wrought iron are the perfect design element for a true Mediterranean style kitchen.

Consider hanging beautiful copper pots and pans from a wrought iron rack to add visual pop to the central work area. Tapestries, paintings, photographs and other artwork the feature the Mediterranean countryside can provide an old and elegant look for a more rustic approach. Whatever your style or aesthetic taste, the Mediterranean kitchen lends itself to creative personalization.

If you’re planning a kitchen remodel, consider the creative style that the Mediterranean kitchen design can bring. Whether you’re striving to achieve a dark, elegant, traditionally rustic look, or the eclectic combination of traditional and modern design, the Mediterranean kitchen is the perfect style for you!
